When you click the Tabby icon, the titles and URLs of your open tabs are
saved to your browser's local extension storage
(chrome.storage.local) so you can restore them later. This data
stays on your device. It is not sent to Tabby's developer, and it is not
synced to any account.
To group your tabs by topic instead of just by website, tab titles and URLs are sent to Tabby's free-tier server (a Cloudflare Worker operated by Tabby's developer), which forwards them to Anthropic's API using a shared key, generates group names, and returns them to your browser. The free-tier server logs only an anonymous install ID and a request count for quota enforcement — not tab content. Tab titles/URLs are used solely to generate topic labels for your session and are not stored server-side, sold, or used for any other purpose.
Tabby does not read page content, does not track browsing history beyond the tabs open at the moment you click the icon, does not use analytics or ad tracking, and does not sell or share data with third parties beyond the AI provider necessary to generate group names as described above.
You can use Tabby entirely offline (grouping by website instead of by topic) if the free tier is ever unavailable or its monthly limit is reached. You can delete any saved session at any time from the Tabby tab. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
